Soft-tissue conditioning material has been placed in the denture. This material has been used to either help the tissue of your mouth heal from the damage done by your previous denture, or to make a dynamic impression of the tissue of your mouth as you function. Please note that is may be necessary to have several appointments over a period of time for this material to achieve its desired results.
For the most effective results, it is very important to follow these instructions while the tissue conditioning material is used.
The first 24 hours
- It is very important to keep the denture in the mouth for the first 6 HOURS after it has been placed. If the denture is removed, it may be very difficult to place it back in the mouth without distorting the material.
Do NOT eat for 2 hours
- Do not eat food while the material is setting for no less than 2 hours. Otherwise, food particles may become incorporated into the material while it is still soft, altering the fit.
Cleaning the denture
- To clean the lined denture, rinse it under running water and brush it lightly. DO NOT soak the denture in a denture cleaning solution. If the denture is removed from the mouth, store it in a container with plain water.
- To allow the material to flow, heal the tissues and adapt to your mouth, wear the dentures as much as possible between now and your next appointment.
